Alice Ballard has earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees magna cum laude in Piano Pedagogy from Mississippi State University and The University of Oklahoma. In addition, she has completed all graduate coursework toward a PhD at The University of Oklahoma. During her studies at MSU, Mrs. Ballard received both the Thomas and Merchants & Farmers Bank Endowed Scholarships and gave a master class performance with concert pianist David Bar-Illan. While at OU, she was awarded the Kendall and Derdeyn Scholarships.
In her undergraduate years, Mrs. Ballard studied piano with Dr. Duncan J. MacMillan and later completed applied graduate studies with Dr. Edward Gates. While at The University of Oklahoma School of Music, she served as a graduate teaching assistant and accompanied both the University Choir and University Chamber Ensemble. Also, she accompanied students in master classes given by visiting artist Marilyn Horne.
Having served many years in the leadership of Mississippi Music Teachers Association, Mrs. Ballard has been Vice President for Pre-College Performances, President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President. She also holds national certification through Music Teachers National Association in addition to being a past president of both the Golden Triangle Music Forum (MTNA Affiliate) and Nocturne Music Club (NFMC Affiliate).
Mrs. Ballard teaches Applied and Class Piano, Organ, and online Music Appreciation at Íæż½ã½ã on the Raymond Campus. In addition, she is the accompanist for the Collegiate Choir and Íæż½ã½ã Harmony. Mrs. Ballard is an active church organist, pianist, and teacher.
