Kolkata, 14 October 2026: Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital (JIMSH), strengthened its commitment to community healthcare through ‘Pujo Parikrama – Anganwadi’r Haath Dhore, Shushtho Saradiya Sabar Ghore’, an initiative dedicated to recognising the invaluable contributions of Anganwadi workers across rural Bengal. The initiative highlighted the crucial role played by these frontline workers in promoting maternal and child health, nutrition, early childhood development and community well-being.
The programme was graced by Mr. Kaushik Sen, renowned actor and theatre and television personality, as chief guests.
As part of the initiative, JIMSH felicitated 10 distinguished Anganwadi workers in recognition of their dedicated service, perseverance and unwavering commitment to the welfare of rural communities. The recognition celebrated their sustained efforts in reaching families at the grassroots level and supporting essential healthcare and nutritional services, often working beyond the public spotlight.
Anganwadi workers have remained an integral part of the community healthcare ecosystem, serving as a vital link between families and essential health and nutrition services. Their responsibilities have extended beyond routine support to include raising awareness about maternal and child care, encouraging healthy practices, supporting early childhood development and contributing to the overall well-being of vulnerable communities. Through their consistent engagement, they have helped strengthen the foundation of preventive healthcare and nurture healthier family environments.
The initiative sought to bring these often-unsung contributions into greater public focus, particularly during the festive season, when the spirit of community, compassion and collective responsibility assumes special significance. By acknowledging the dedication of these women, JIMSH aimed to underscore the importance of grassroots workers in building a healthier, more informed and empowered society.
“Anganwadi workers are the unsung heroes of our healthcare system, playing a vital role in nurturing healthier mothers, children and communities. Through ‘Pujo Parikrama’, we wanted to recognise their selfless dedication and bring their invaluable contributions into the spotlight. We believe that strengthening community health begins with empowering and appreciating those who work tirelessly at the grassroots. This initiative reflects our commitment to building a healthier, more inclusive society, where the efforts of these frontline workers receive the recognition and respect they truly deserve,” said Mr. Krishna Kumar Gupta, Chairman, Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital (JIMSH).
Through ‘Pujo Parikrama’, JIMSH reinforced the message that stronger communities begin with recognising and supporting those who serve them at the grassroots. The felicitation served as a tribute to the dedication of Anganwadi workers and reaffirmed the significance of collective efforts in advancing maternal and child health, improving nutrition and fostering community well-being across Bengal.
