RAYMOND – The Fall 2018 group of honorees in the Íæż½ã½ã Heroes employee recognition program have been named. Íæż½ã½ã Heroes are chosen because they represent the college well, provide exceptional customer service to all its customers and consistently promote the Íæż½ã½ã mission of service. Heroes selected receive a lapel pin, a token of appreciation and one free day off work.

Joyce Brasfield Adams, of Jackson, faculty/QEP Director at the Jackson Campus-Nursing/Allied Health Center. Her duties include teaching LLS courses, facilitating Learning to Learn camps and directing implementation of the college’s Quality Enhancement Plan. She has been with Íæż½ã½ã for 33 years.

Valerie Barton, of Brandon, director of the Secondary Career and Technical Education Center at the Rankin Campus. Her duties include being administrator for the center, which serves Rankin County and Pearl Public School districts. She has been with Íæż½ã½ã for six years.

Dana Bowles, of Wesson, district curriculum coordinator for the barbering program, based at the Raymond Campus. Her duties include instructing barbering students to cut, color, shampoo and style hair, shave and facials in preparation for the Mississippi State Barber Board licensing exam. She has been with Íæż½ã½ã for 13 years.

Jamie Burkley, of Vicksburg, assistant director of housing on the Raymond Campus. His duties include being responsible for all housing operations, hall directors, resident assistants and janitorial staff. He has been with Íæż½ã½ã for five years.

Lisa B. Davis, of Raymond, faculty/instructional design at the Jackson Campus-Nursing/Allied Health Center. Her duties include helping students get into nursing and allied health programs, ACT preparation, as well as roles in the computer learning lab, Learning to Learn, instructional design and professional development. She has been with Íæż½ã½ã for 29 years.

Laurie George, of Raymond, navigator for the Diesel Equipment Technology program at the Diesel Technology Academy in Richland. Her duties include recruiting, interviewing, advising, testing and counseling each applicant to the program; assisting them in financial aid and scholarships; assisting in resume-writing and other tips in applying for jobs. She has been with Íæż½ã½ã for 26 years.

Danny Harrelson, of Vicksburg, adjunct geology instructor at the Vicksburg-Warren Campus. His duties include instructing students taking geology on campus. He has been with Íæż½ã½ã for 18 years.

Sally Porter, of Madison, chef instructor at the Jackson Campus-Academic/Technical Center. Her duties include developing lecture labs for daytime program; managing the program’s kitchen area with menu development and learning opportunities; teaching proper culinary principles on American and international cuisine and working with the hospitality and marketing side of the program. She has been with Íæż½ã½ã for nearly 19 years.

Margaret Mims, of Utica, counselor/adviser at the Utica Campus. Her duties include working with counselors at schools in Íæż½ã½ã and Copiah counties to coordinate project activities; ensuring that students attend workshops and are admitted into college. She has been with Íæż½ã½ã for six years.

James Kennedy, of Clinton, reference/archives librarian at the McLendon Library at the Raymond Campus. His duties include reference, archives, interlibrary loans, bibliographic information and collection development. He has been with Íæż½ã½ã for 18 years.

Jackie Jackson, of Raymond, administrative assistant in the Advancement Department at the Raymond Campus. Her duties include various office duties for the department; compiling minutes for meetings; other duties with the budget, graduation, school calendar and Centennial Room. She has been with Íæż½ã½ã for 18½ years.

Doug Williams, of Raymond, head soccer coach at the Raymond Campus. His duties include coaching the team, teaching health and physical education and sponsoring the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter. He has been with Íæż½ã½ã for 21 years.
