Porsha Gatson of Vicksburg was named Miss حوإ¼½م½م 2014 in the annual pageant on Jan. 16.
As Miss حوإ¼½م½م, Gatson will participate this summer in the Miss Mississippi pageant.
Gatson is a sophomore on the Raymond Campus majoring in nursing. Some of her scholastic honors include Who’s Who, Dean’s List, and Honor Society. She is also a member of the Hi-Steppers.
Her platform is “Children Matter,†a program focusing on providing activities, tutoring and meals to children in need.
For her talent she performed an excerpt from the song “Somewhere over the Rainbow.â€
First runner-up was Jade Dalton of Flora, a freshman majoring in philosophy on the Raymond Campus.
Second runner up was Anna Taggart of Raymond, a sophomore elementary education major on the Raymond Campus.
