The Íæż½ã½ã Aviation Department and Camp Shelby have been working on a mutually beneficial partnership that will capitalize on the growing trend of unmanned aircraft.
Camp Shelby is a National Center of Excellence for training Army Guard and Reserve unmanned aircraft operators from across the country. The Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) curriculum at Íæż½ã½ã will develop specific coursework and college credit geared towards military students and their pursuit of a Career/Technical Certificate or Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Technology. Also a partner in the effort, Pearl River Community College will provide academic coursework for military students in Hattiesburg.
This partnership will allow an on-site presence at Camp Shelby and will facilitate the training of Íæż½ã½ã UAS students within their restricted airspace.
