Mississippi potter, sculptor and educator set to present work in Marie Hull Art Gallery

Christian Bailey, a Mississippi potter and sculptor listed on the roster of the Mississippi Arts Commission, will have a show at ż Sept. 25- Oct. 26.

“Trigger Warning” features unique 3-D artworks. The show will be in the Marie Hull Art Gallery on the Raymond Campus.

Bailey is planning a demonstration Oct. 26, with a come-and-go demonstration 9 a.m.-10:45 a.m. He will then give a talk at 1:30 p.m.in Reeves Hall, Room 161, about his works and his approach to making art. The closing reception is in the Marie Hull Gallery from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., said LeeReyna Lopez-Leyva, Director of the Marie Hull Art Gallery.

Bailey is currently the art department chair at Harrison Central High School, Gulfport, Miss. He was an educational consultant for the Ohr O’Keefe Museum of Art, and he has also done some footwork to promote STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. He has taught art for 17 years at all high school levels along with cross-curriculum planning. He is a familiar friend of the Ohr O’Keefe Museum of Art where he is a consultant, contributes artwork and teaches art classes to the public in the Mary C. O’Keefe Center.
